So, I’ve been posting pics online of all these adorably sweet Scottish & English cottages – and now I just need to have a place to put them all that isn’t just a folder on my computer anymore.  Which means that even if I’m the only one that ever sees this – I don’t care – they’re here, out of my “saved folder” and into a place where I can say, “I AM going to stay in one some day!!”

My love for them that started as a kid, watching BBC television with my mom… Upstairs, Downstairs for her… All Creatures Great & Small, Dr Who for me.   (And when I say I love them – I mean LOVE.  Craving, burning-desire-to -live-in-one love.  Just ask my husband.)  There is nothing that is more the real “me” – a small stone nest, flowers rambling up it’s sides, maybe a thatched roof (que fairytale music – I’ll take cobblestone, too) and a garden – an overgrown, tumbled mess of color complete with dogs, goats and the odd duck or goose.  A place I can wear Wellies – not because they’re fashionable, but because I need to… where all I breathe is fresh air outside and the scent of fire smoke inside.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t imagine living in one as being perfectly idyllic – but for me, the charms outweigh the work.  (At least I say that now, from the safety of my 60 year old cape.  But given the chance?  I’d take it.)

So here are some of my favorites… not all, by any means… but just a choice few that warm the cockles of my “child of British blood living in America” heart. 🙂

So there they are – just a few of my favorites, places that make me dream – and seeing as I just found a few online for weekly rent, maybe one day soon it’ll become a reality!!
